Another old piece.

Scratch board. The board I was using was more like scratch paper than scratch board (terrible quality). I basically strategically flecked off the ink because well.. the ink would fleck off instead of giving an exact line/ dot from the scratching tool... but hey, use what you've got, eh? (and maybe I like it that way- looks kinda like a grainy photo)

Oh, thank you kindly. Personally I've seen better. Haha. But this was a first attempt. Maybe I'll try the medium again some time. :)

Try adding ink instead of scratching it off and it will come out better ....

I was using scratch board. With scratch board, one removes ink to create the picture. It's a different technique than using pen and ink. If you look at my deviation "Twins", that is done in the technique you suggested.

I like to explore different mediums and techniques.

I don't think it is very fair to tell someone that they should use a different medium. Like.. "Oh, I think you should really use watercolor instead of oils. It just looks better."

Perhaps I should have been a little more descriptive in my words that I chose. Instead of 'come out better' I should have said 'have more detail'.

When people draw someone smiling, they usually get the teeth looking all wrong.
But you've done an excellent job here! :D

Like I said on the other one, it looks like a photo with an effect. :)

The anatomy is right on and the expressions are lively. :aww:
